Boost Mobile made waves a few years ago when it came out with its Monthly Unlimited plan that cost users $50 for unlimited web, text, and calling. It was sort of a crazy price point that had industry insiders wondering how Boost could actually afford to only charge $50 per month for unlimited service.
That plan has now been changed and has what Boost is calling “shrinkage,” meaning that the longer you are with the plan, the less you pay over time. You start paying $50, then after 6 months of on time payments, your price goes down to $45. It’s kind of interesting, but it also does take quite a commitment in time, which is something many people avoid in prepaid. Anyways, what I really wanted to write about here is the latest addition to the Boost Mobile phone family, the Samsung Factor.
The Samsung Factor will be available on Boost Mobile plans in April. It’s always cool to have another phone to select from, but this phone isn’t really all that amazing. But it does look like a decent phone with a VGA camera, bluetooth, web, email, and instant messaging. But then again almost every phone has these options–they’re pretty standard. The Samsung Factor is a standard flip style phone with all the basic elements we look for in our lower end phones. It may be no hot shot, but at a price of $49.99 and paired with the Boost Mobile Unlimited plan, this could be a good value play. Read about Boost Mobile’s new prepaid option.
Boost Mobile really made some headway with its foray into the unlimited prepaid game. It was a good move (for customers) and a lot of other companies followed suit. One of them was TracFone Straight Talk, a company that has really excelled when it comes to providing a good unlimited plan. MetroPCS and Virgin both also have very good plans that could be an option for you and your family.
