Keystone ski resort
This Colorado resort is definitely worth the visit. It is right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, only an hour and a half from Denver. It is open roughly 6 months of the year, depending on the conditions.
Things to do
Besides skiing and snowboarding, this resort has ice skating, gondola ides, and snow tubing, just to name a few activities. In the unlikely event you ever get tired of skiing, you will not run out of things to do. The ice skating rink is actually the biggest Zamboni maintained outdoor rink in the US or Canada. Dercum Mountain also has one of the state’s top snow tubing areas. You will also find 100s of acres of cat skiing.
There are 3 mountains at this resort, which is why there are great opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. It is home to the biggest mountain in Summit County, and overall has 3,000 skiable acres, 20 lifts, 2 gondolas, and 2 different ski villages. There are lodging choices for you regardless of how much or little you have to spend, so you will find a vacation rental that fits your budget.
One of the main attractions here is the largest stretch of night skiing anywhere in the state. Dercum Mountain, one of the 3 mountains at the resort, has long and leisurely runs for beginners to intermediates. Its’ trails are known for being extremely well groomed, as the resort has some of the best groomers in the state. The terrain park on the mountain is rated as one of the best around. If you want tree skiing, then try out The Windows on Dercum Mountain, which offers some of the best woods skiing in Colorado.
